Ten Unusual Themes For Your Hen Night
Posted on: March 19, 2010 10:03 | Posted by: LoveHoney
Getting into the team colours can be both fun and beneficial on a Hen Night.
Most women don't need an excuse to pull out every lotion, potion and product they own to prepare for a party and it's our duty as beautiful, sexy girls to show the world how it's done because, after all, playing dress up is what we do best.
A theme can also be a safe way to ensure that a party that heads out together stays together; a 'man down' is hard to miss if she's dressed as a giant bumble bee.
As the organiser of a Hen Night, the pressure is on to come up with unique and fun ideas to keep a gaggle of girls entertained from the first cocktail to the last. Here at Hen Night HQ, we've come up with 10 strange and unusual themes for Hen Nights. Whether you're aiming for something unusual or planning a more traditional event, this list of weird and wonderful themes should take a bit of the pressure off:
1. Pirates v Ninjas – The internet-wide debate just walked into your local bar. Pirates v Ninjas is a great theme for Hen groups wanting to play team games. Assemble a task list to include games for Pirates and Ninjas. Our favourites are Ninja-esque 'Drink Borrowing' where you attempt to run off with a reveller's drink without them noticing (don't forget to give it back!) and Pirate-perfect 'Sailing The Seven Seas' where you seek to commandeer a vessel (man) to sail you (carry you) from shore to shore (bar to bar).
2. Dommes on Parade – If your girls get a kick from striking fear into the hearts of men everywhere, you'll love kitting yourselves out for a dominatrix themed Hen Party. Leather, PVC, chains, cuffs and novelty whips galore. Play games based on what you can make the men in your path submit to. Human chair in a crowded club anyone?
3. Animals With Jobs – This is a great creative theme with hilarious results. Open to interpretation by the girls in your group, the concept is simple; pick an animal that has a job! Santa's Reindeer, Police Dog, Honey Bee, Loan Shark, Cat Burglar, and Lab Rat are some of our favourites. If you're looking for a sexier theme, animals with jobs still makes for a great drinking game. Take it in turns to name an animal with a job, if you falter, you drink a shot!
4. Drag Me To The Alter – Girls will be girls, but they also make cracking boys too! A gender-switch Hen Night is great fun and you'll be less concerned about embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions whilst going wild. Pack it in, pack it out and take your socks in your hand for a real boy's night out.
5. Ma Familia – On this, the day before the bride-to-be's wedding, mob-up and hit the mean streets in pinstripes and smart, tailored garb yielding semi-alcoholic weapons. Themed games include undertaking favours for The Don, if you fail to retrieve the undergarments of an assailant, you will be expected to take a shot for your family.
6. Glamour Granny – Find the Nanny Cougar within and prepare for a night of tea, bingo and Nan dancing with the ladies from The Bridge Club. Hit the town with handbags, twin sets, cardigans and custard creams, shake your stick and cry from the top of your lungs; 'Nanageddon is upon us!'
7. We come in Drunk – An extra-terrestrial Hen Night can lead to an out of this world experience. We're not suggesting that you spend your last night as a single woman hunting UFO's (unless that's your bag!) but there are plenty of Unidentified Flirty Objects out there to make contact with. Anything from deely-bopper antennae to a full on Barberella catsuit fit the theme. Party long and prosper!
8. I can't believe I used to... – Look deep into your past and relive your fashion fails. Get out the photo album and regress your aesthetics by recreating your most infamous fashion faux pas. PVC puffa jackets, polkadot ski-pants, neon satin shirts and purple lipstick are the order for the evening.
9. Fairytale Fatale – How did Cruella D'Ville feel after 4 Jagerbombs in a row? Can Cinderella hold her liquor better than Robin Hood? Experience the fairy tales The Brothers Grimm failed to document. Who knew that it was actually Little Red Riding Hood who lost her shoe and Sleeping Beauty was the last one standing?
10. To the Letter – An inventive theme that is based around the bride, well, her name to be precise. You come as something beginning with the first letter of the bride's name. Be sure to keep your costume top secret until you're dressed and ready. The bride will judge her favourite costume and the worst will most certainly be issued with a forfeit.
So there you have it, 10 unusual themes for your Hen Night to get the town talking! We'd love to hear from you if you've tried any of these yourself or have one to add that isn't on our list.
